Nelson Mandela’s granddaughters, Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway and Zamaswazi (Swati) Dlamini-Mandela, visited Israel and Gaza on a humanitarian mission, describing the experience as “eye-opening” and “life-changing.”
They said they witnessed the suffering on both sides, saw large-scale humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza — in stark contrast to media portrayals — and expressed deep solidarity with the victims of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 massacre.
During their visit, they met with President Isaac Herzog, toured Yad Vashem, Jerusalem’s Old City, Kibbutz Nir Oz, and the Nova music festival site, and held meetings with women’s organizations and both Israeli and Palestinian activists.
They also distributed humanitarian aid to more than 10,000 women and children in Gaza alongside the Global Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and were impressed by the dedication of the aid workers.
