In the talks between Israel and Turkey Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev revealed: "We are mediating in the current crisis between Turkey and Israel, both of which are our close friends. The tension between these two countries is very worrying."
According to him, Azerbaijan also mediated in resolving the previous Turkey-Israel crisis two years ago:
"Then we acted behind the scenes and did not publicize the issue. It is always bad when your friends have a bad relationship, it is bad for them, it is bad for us, and it is bad for the world."
Israeli sources confirmed that negotiations are indeed underway with the Turks with the aim of creating an agreed model for deploying forces in Syria as was the case with the Russians.
