A new survey reveals a sharp decline in support for Hezbollah and growing openness to peace with Israel in Syria, while Lebanese public opinion shows strong backing for disarming the terror group but more caution on normalization.
Less than a year and a half after the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, and roughly 18 months after the end of the war in Lebanon and Beirut’s declarations that it intends to disarm Hezbollah, a new poll offers a revealing snapshot of public opinion in both countries.
The survey, published by the New York Post and conducted by YouGov for the pro-Israel Council for a Secure America (CSA), included 260 respondents in Syria and 252 in Lebanon, all over the age of 18. It was conducted between January 8–15, 2026, with a stated margin of error of approximately 5%.
