New details on last night’s shooting at IDF forces in Syria
IDF intelligence assessments reveal that the Jolani regime is refraining from acting against a developing terror infrastructure in southern Syria—while local terrorist recruitment continues to expand and could soon result in a successful attack against Israeli forces.
According to IDF sources, in the village of Beit Jann—where the firefight occurred—there is an active network of roughly 15 operatives linked to Hamas and al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya. These cells are planning attacks on behalf of these terrorist groups.
Officials say the new Syrian government fully understands the terror infrastructure operating in the village, yet has chosen not to act against it. Instead, regime forces entered Beit Jann only to arrest drug and weapons dealers, deliberately avoiding any confrontation with the terrorist cell. Israel concluded that it could not rely on the regime’s cooperation—and therefore initiated its own operation.
