Arab reports: a campaign to liberate Al Hodeidah from the grip of the Houthis is approaching.
In recent days, a number of reports have been published in Arab media channels, according to which the Houthis are preparing for the possibility of a military operation to liberate Al Hodeidah province from their grip, based on "intelligence" that has come into their hands.
Al Hodeidah is considered a strategic point overlooking the Red Sea, and whoever controls it controls international shipping routes and the entrances to Yemen's seaports.
According to the reports, the Houthis are making "military preparations" in al-Hodeidah in western Yemen, to deal with any possible escalation against them "with the support of Washington". In recent days, the Houthis have sent armed reinforcements to the city of al-Hodeidah, which has been attacked by Israel twice in recent months, and have carried out several military maneuvers as part of the preparations.
Iran's Maher Agency and the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, quoted Houthi sources as saying that they "completed their preparations in Al Hodeidah, in anticipation of any possible escalation by forces supported by the Saudi-Emirati coalition." The sources explained that these steps were taken after the Houthis received information about the preparations made by the coalition forces.
At the same time, the Yemeni news site "Al-Mashahed", close to the Yemeni government in Aden, which opposes the Houthis, reported, from "political and military" sources, that the fighting in Yemen is expected to resume with an emphasis on Al Hodeidah. The sources told the news site that "there are political and military coordinations, through meetings of Yemeni parties (opposing the Houthis) as well as meetings of the leaders of the internationally recognized government."
Today, another news website close to the government in Aden, "Marib News", reported that "large forces have entered Yemen through the border with Saudi Arabia, and are moving towards the Al-Hodeidah district."
The report added that "these forces constitute a new step towards what is known as the 'battle to liberate al-Hodeidah', which aims to regain control of the vital city and remove it from the grip of the Houthis." So far, there is no confirmation of this report from other sources.
