As revealed by the IDF and Shin Bet, under the European Hospital complex is an underground infrastructure that includes a command and control complex from which the fighting was conducted by senior commanders in the Hamas terrorist organization.

In a special and focused operation under the direction of the Intelligence Branch and under the command of Division 36, IDF and Shin Bet forces, including forces from the Golani Brigade Combat Team, fighters from the Yahalom Unit, and special units of the Military Intelligence Directorate, the underground infrastructure was located and contained numerous artifacts: command and control rooms, weapons, and additional intelligence artifacts.

During the scans, several terrorist bodies were located, their identities are being examined. 

Throughout the war, the IDF repeatedly exposed the use of hospitals throughout the Gaza Strip by the Hamas terrorist organization for terrorist activities and as a hiding place for senior Hamas military wing officials. The underground infrastructure that the IDF reached is located directly beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis and was also built by Hamas.

The Hamas terrorist organization continues to use hospitals in the Gaza Strip for terrorist purposes, cynically and cruelly exploiting the civilian population in and around the hospital.
