As the US’ Indo-Pacific strategy gains traction, China has stepped up its attacks, especially on the formation of Quad led by the US. China’s Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng has said that the US' Indo-Pacific strategy is as "dangerous" as NATO’s expansion in Europe.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had rubbished China’s allegation that the Quad is an Asian NATO. Amid Putin’s war in Eastern Europe, there are concerns that China would be emboldened to make a move on Taiwan.
