At the fourth Israeli Space Forum held in Planetanya, senior officials from the Ministry of Innovation, the Israel Space Agency, and leading industry figures gathered to discuss how Israel’s rapidly expanding space sector — with over 100 startups — is driving innovation, independence, and national resilience.
The forum emphasized space as a key economic growth engine and strategic component of national security. Ministry Director-General Omer Shechter noted that the “Iron Swords” war underscored the critical role of advanced space systems in defense, communication, and civilian infrastructure, as Israel continues to strengthen its technological self-reliance.
Under Minister Gila Gamliel’s leadership, Israel invested 40 million shekels in a new national lab for space payloads, launched the “Dror 1” satellite to enhance communications independence, and expanded international cooperation with Europe and Asia.
The forum also highlighted educational initiatives, including record-breaking student satellite launches and the first solar observatory in Usfiya. Dedicated to the memory of Col. Avi Har-Even, the event reaffirmed Israel’s growing status as a space power integrating science, industry, and education.
