YONI BEN MENACHEM -- Instead of attacking Israel directly, Iran now uses the Houthis in order to save themselves from more loses.
While planned Israeli and American strikes inside Iran have been halted with the start of a trilateral ceasefire between Israel, Iran, and the U.S., Iran’s most reliable proxy—the Houthis in Yemen—are openly continuing their campaign against Israel. Just yesterday, the Houthis launched a ballistic missile toward southern Israel, which was successfully intercepted by the IDF.
Anyone in the West or Israel who hoped Yemen would be included in the ceasefire was mistaken. The Houthis have declared that they are not bound by the Israel-Iran agreement and will continue fighting the “Zionist entity” as long as the war in Gaza continues.
Iran has remained notably silent, which Israeli security officials interpret as tacit approval—or even encouragement—of continued Houthi attacks.
