Iranian opponents of the Islamic regime spoke with The Jerusalem Post and have reacted with shock and alarm to the emerging US-Iran agreement, warning that Tehran already views the deal as a victory over Washington.
An Iranian source familiar with developments inside the country said dissidents had believed events were moving toward weakening—and possibly ultimately removing—the regime. Israeli and American military pressure had severely damaged Iran’s military power, while internal opposition was growing following the regime’s brutal suppression of nationwide protests.
However, dissidents now fear the agreement could rescue and empower the Islamic Republic at the moment it was most vulnerable.
According to the source, Iranian state television is portraying the emerging deal as a victory for the so-called “axis of resistance” against the United States. This narrative could strengthen the regime domestically while encouraging its terrorist proxies, including Hezbollah and the Houthis.
