Israel has carried out a targeted operation inside Syria, detaining an ISIS-linked suspect and transferring him to Israeli territory for questioning.
The IDF confirmed on Saturday that earlier this week its forces arrested an individual suspected of belonging to the Islamic State organization in southern Syria and brought him to Israel for further interrogation.
According to Agence France-Presse, the military said that “soldiers completed an operation last Wednesday in the al-Rafid area of southern Syria to arrest a terrorist suspected of links to ISIS.” The statement added that “the suspect was transferred to Israeli territory to complete the investigation.”
Earlier on Saturday, Israeli forces entered the village of Ain Zivan in the rural Quneitra region of southern Syria. Syrian News Agency reported that Israeli troops established a temporary checkpoint in the area using five military vehicles.
