WATCH: Saudi journalist Abdulaziz Alkhamis says Saudi Arabia should have led the confrontation against Iran and “shown its teeth” instead of focusing only on defense.
In an interview with BBC Arabic, Alkhamis said many Gulf states now view Iran as their “number-one enemy,” including countries that once maintained close ties with Tehran. He argued that Iran’s aggressive regional behavior and attacks pushed Gulf countries to rethink their policies toward the Islamic Republic.
Alkhamis also said Israel’s actions against Iranian influence in the region are effectively providing Gulf states with strategic benefits “for free,” including targeting Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs and weakening Hezbollah in Lebanon.
He predicted that Israel could eventually reach peace agreements not only with Saudi Arabia, but also with other Gulf states, Syria, and Lebanon.
