A Qatari professor claims the Iranian regime should not be weakened and accuses Israel of trying to dominate the region.
In a March 4, 2026 interview with the Arabic-language channel of Russia Today TV, Qatari academic Ali Al-Hail, a professor of political science and mass communication at Qatar University, argued that any attempt to topple or weaken the Iranian regime should be opposed.
According to Al-Hail, Iran represents the primary obstacle to what he described as Israel’s “Greater Israel” ambitions in the Middle East.
Al-Hail claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to drag the Arab Gulf countries into a military confrontation with Iran. He argued that this plan will fail because the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states will reject such a scenario.
