The French Parliament has approved a resolution calling on the European Union to formally add the Muslim Brotherhood to the EU’s list of banned terrorist organizations.
The vote passed with 157 members in favor and 101 against, with all opposition coming from left-wing parties.
Supporters of the resolution argued that the Muslim Brotherhood operates as a transnational Islamist network that undermines democratic institutions, fuels radicalization, and serves as an ideological gateway to jihadist terror groups across Europe and the Middle East.
Those backing the measure stressed that designation at the EU level would strengthen intelligence cooperation, disrupt funding networks, and send a clear political message that Europe will not tolerate Islamist movements working to erode democratic values from within.
