As fighting surrounding Iran intensifies, one question has been circulating widely across Arab social media: where have the Houthis gone — and why have they not intervened after four days of escalating conflict, unlike Iranian-backed proxies in Iraq and Lebanon?

Online discussions reveal a mix of strategic speculation and dark humor.

The most common explanation among users is that the Houthis are “waiting for the Saudis.” 

According to this view, if Saudi Arabia were to take direct action against Iran, the Houthis would respond by attacking Saudi targets. This theory reflects the long-standing hostility between the Iran-backed group in Yemen and Riyadh.
