Two comments were published in yesterday's reports regarding the death of the commander of the infantry brigade of the Russian Navy (Marines) 810.
He was killed in Mariupol. This is the division designed to lead the landing in Odessa and was "loaded" on ships two weeks ago.
Taking this into account, when we look at the battles in Mariupol in recent days indicates a Russian understanding that the challenge of Odessa is too great at the moment, especially as long as its ground forces are unable to cross the Bog River towards Odessa from the mainland.
The second point: While the deaths of the generals grab attention, battalion commanders and brigadiers (and their staff officers) are much harder to replace during the time of actual war than generals.
