A heated on-air confrontation between two Lebanese journalists nearly turned physical during a January 25, 2026 talk show broadcast on MTV Lebanon News, forcing the host and producer to step in and break up the exchange.
During the discussion, journalist Mohammad Barakat, a known critic of Hezbollah, confronted fellow journalist Mohammad Allouch, who is identified with the group’s supporters. Barakat demanded that Allouch apologize for previously labeling certain Lebanese figures as “collaborators” during an earlier live broadcast, accusing him of recklessly branding political opponents as traitors.
Allouch rejected the demand, responding that a “collaborator,” in his view, is anyone who supports the enemy at the expense of his own countrymen. He added pointedly that if Barakat sees himself fitting that description — as others do, according to Allouch — then he “does not care.” This remark sharply escalated tensions between the two men.
The argument quickly deteriorated into shouting and the exchange of obscenities, with both journalists becoming visibly agitated. As the confrontation intensified, the program’s host and producer were forced to intervene on camera to physically separate the two and prevent the situation from turning violent, bringing the segment to an abrupt halt.
