Trump orders review to classify Muslim Brotherhood branches in Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon as terrorist organizations; Qatar and Turkey left out
President Donald Trump signed a new executive order initiating a formal review into designating specific branches and sub-organizations of the Muslim Brotherhood as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) and as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT).
The order focuses on Brotherhood branches in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt, directing the administration to strip them of resources and target their operational capabilities. According to the White House, the move follows a “direct threat to US citizens, American interests, and the security of Washington’s regional allies.” Notably, the order does not address the Brotherhood’s powerful hubs in Qatar and Turkey.
