The inquiry into the Meron tragedy that ended with 45 casualties commenced on Tuesday, with a formal visit to the mountain in Israel’s north of State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman. The Health Ministry launched an investigation as well, in which an initial probe found malfunctions in evacuating the wounded. Landing pads in hospitals situated in central Israel were non-functional, which came under criticism by a state official. In addition, the ministry found that it took more than 20 minutes for the Emergency Department to receive the update that the disaster was declared a multi-casualty incident.
