Arab commentator Ibrahim Mousa says Arab governments created and maintained the refugee problem while blaming Israel.
Iraqi analyst and Russian-language commentator Ibrahim Mousa launched a striking criticism at Arab regimes, arguing that for decades they have spoken loudly about “liberating Palestine,” while refusing to grant basic rights to the Palestinians living in their own countries.
According to Mousa, Arab states such as Egypt, Syria and Lebanon have denied Palestinians citizenship for decades, imposing policies that keep generations in a permanent state of refugee status. In Lebanon, he notes, Palestinians face some of the harshest restrictions, being barred from 72 professions, including medicine and engineering—a system he bluntly calls Arab-on-Arab apartheid.
Mousa contrasts this with Israel, where two million Arab citizens enjoy full civil rights, including access to subsidized higher education and representation across the medical professions. He asks why Arab states searching for “apartheid” ignore the blatant discrimination in their own backyard.
