The Trump administration has reached a tentative agreement allowing Saudi Arabia to conduct limited domestic uranium enrichment
The Trump administration has reached a tentative agreement allowing Saudi Arabia to conduct limited domestic uranium enrichment under a draft civilian nuclear agreement awaiting President Trump’s signature, CNN reported.
The precise enrichment limits remain unclear. The draft would also not require Saudi Arabia to adopt the International Atomic Energy Agency’s most stringent inspection regime, relying instead on a separate U.S.-Saudi safeguards agreement.
The proposed arrangement has raised concerns that it could provide Riyadh with a potential pathway toward developing a nuclear weapons capability.
