Today's talk at the Sultanate of Oman deals with the question of how torn pages of a Koran book arrived in a crate of apples originating in Iran. The storm began when an Omani uploaded a picture of a crate of apples he had bought and was surprised to find that they were lined with torn pages of the Muslim holy book. He hurried to the point of sale where he was told that this was the shipment of the apples from Iran.
The case was reported to authorities who promised to conduct an in-depth investigation into the matter. It should be noted that under Omani law heavy penalties are imposed on anyone who desecrates the Koran including actual imprisonment.
The network called on users to sue the seller as well, claiming that it did not make sense to sell without checking the packaging, and also called for banning the import of apples from the Iranian supplier.
