Around a dozen European countries have expressed interest in Israel’s combat-proven missile defense system as fears of war with Russia grow.
European demand for Israel’s David’s Sling missile defense system is surging as governments race to strengthen air defenses depleted by years of underinvestment and the war in Ukraine.
Moshe Patel, head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, said approximately 12 European countries have expressed interest in purchasing the system during the past year. Finland is currently the only European customer, but Patel expects another country to sign an agreement “very soon,” with additional deals likely to follow.
David’s Sling, jointly developed by Israel’s Rafael and US defense company Raytheon, can intercept ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, rockets, drones and aircraft at distances of up to approximately 300 kilometers. It forms the middle layer of Israel’s air-defense network, above Iron Dome and below the Arrow systems.
