The US House of Representatives yesterday passed the "Communism [Crimes] Mandate Act" by a majority of 327 in favor against 62 against.
The bill, submitted by the member of the House of Representatives from Florida, Maria Elvira Salazar, with the support of 33 other members of Congress, seeks to address the gap in the American education system regarding the bloody history of communism.
"Communism is one of the most destructive political ideologies the world has ever seen," says Salazar, whose parents fled to the US from communist Cuba.
And she adds: "The Communism Teaching Act is important because our youth must remember the crimes of the Communists, including those committed against my constituents and their families...".
