A city of about 700,000 residents in Sichuan Province in southern China, Zhang Yu, has become a focus of public attention in recent days.

Mass protests that erupted over social injustices have been ongoing for about a week.

Authorities have deployed special police forces to suppress the demonstrations.

Chants that the Chinese regime fears the most, such as "Overthrow the Chinese Communist Party," were heard in the city streets.
