Lapid: Israel needs unity and believes in future partners’ good intentions.
A day after receiving the mandate for forming the government, Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid made a statement to the media this evening (Thursday) and discussed efforts to create a unity government. "Yesterday, the president gave me the mandate to try to form a government in Israel," said Chairman Yesh Atid in his opening remarks. "I said in honor of the president: 'An Israeli unity government is not a compromise - it is a goal.' This is what the state needs now." Lapid added that "Israel is tired of quarrels. The people of Israel look at its politicians and ask themselves - when will they stop fighting and go to work for us? And my answer is - now. Now we need a unity government. Because we are here together. We have one fate, and we do not. "We hate each other. We do not agree on everything, but these are disagreements for heaven's sake and therefore an end to existing." On the complex government, he is trying to form, Lapid said that "it will have a simple goal: to get us out of the crisis. From the corona crisis, the economic crisis, the political crisis, especially the crisis within us, within the people of Israel. We will not solve any of our problems if we continue to fight. "The internal arguments weaken us. They stop us and make it difficult for us to face the security challenges, to advance the economy and education."
