Tareq Abu Al-Ragheb says Hamas gambled with Gazan lives for Iran, made humiliating concessions, and owes Palestinians and the Arab world an apology.
In a December 1 interview on Jordan’s Roya TV, former Jordanian Media Commission director Tareq Abu Al-Ragheb sharply criticized Hamas, saying the group launched a “reckless adventure” on October 7 solely to serve Iran’s interests. He argued that Hamas must apologize to the Palestinians and to the wider Arab and Islamic world for dragging the region into catastrophe.
Abu Al-Ragheb said Hamas’s actions have left the people of Gaza devastated, pointing out that many Gazans wish they could be buried with dignity while their bodies lie in the streets as Hamas prioritizes searching for the remains of Israeli soldiers. He added that Hamas has already surrendered and made humiliating concessions while still claiming to defend Gaza from another October 7.
He stressed that Hamas has allowed Israel full access across Gaza, contradicting its narrative of resistance. Abu Al-Ragheb previously served as a TV anchor and was once arrested before later being appointed director-general of Jordan’s Media Commission.
