Sogand Fakhri, an Iran analyst at the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, says there are renewed signs of unrest inside Iran, particularly among young people and university students.
According to Fakhri, the restoration of internet access has once again exposed the depth of public frustration over Iran’s worsening economic situation and the regime’s conduct.
She said opponents of the Islamic Republic continue to discuss the possibility of renewing nationwide protests, as anger grows over financial hardship, political repression and the leadership’s priorities.
The Iranian regime is confronting this internal pressure while simultaneously facing a military confrontation with Israel. Tehran’s leaders must now divide their attention between external threats and growing dissatisfaction among their own population.
