In a statement tonight, President Donald Trump sharply criticized the nuclear agreement reached under Barack Obama, arguing it handed major concessions to Iran and weakened US leverage in the region.
He emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had strongly opposed the deal at the time and urged Washington not to proceed.
Trump added that the agreement effectively left Israel to confront the Iranian threat on its own, forcing it to take responsibility for stopping Iran’s ambitions until a new US policy was put in place.
He reiterated that one of his first major decisions in office was to withdraw from the deal, restoring pressure on Tehran and aligning US policy more closely with Israel’s position.
