YONI BEN MENACHEM -- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone last night with US President Donald Trump, who invited him to an official visit to the White House soon.
Political sources in Jerusalem said that during the conversation, Netanyahu's pardon request to President Yitzhak Herzog was raised, as well as a series of regional and security issues related to Trump's peace plan - issues that require close coordination between the leaders in a face-to-face meeting.
According to them, relations between Netanyahu and Trump are excellent, despite differences of approach on certain issues. The visit is expected to take place this month, but a final date has not yet been set. This will be Netanyahu's fifth visit to the White House since Trump took office.
