This Could Be a Viable Path to Peace in Wake of Ongoing Conflicts
Alan Skorski recently interviewed Dr. Mordechai Kedar, one of the world’s foremost experts on Islamism and the Arab world. A veteran of 25 years in the IDF Military Intelligence Unit, Dr. Kedar specialized in Syria, Arab political discourse, Arab media, Islamic groups, and Israeli Arabs.
Fluent in Arabic, Dr. Kedar is a rare Israeli voice often invited onto Arab and Muslim news networks, where he presents facts and analysis many in the Arab world prefer to ignore—especially during times of war and conflict.
Three decades ago, Dr. Kedar proposed his groundbreaking “8-State Solution” to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Long before it became obvious to most, he recognized that a “Two-State Solution” with the PLO, Fatah, or any of their offshoots would never bring peace.
As Skorski reminded his audience, we are approaching 700 days since Hamas—the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood—slaughtered over 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped more than 250 hostages on October 7, 2023. Since then, the IDF has systematically dismantled terror infrastructures in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.
Yet the global media and so-called “humanitarian” organizations have focused their outrage solely on Israel, accusing the Jewish state of war crimes and even genocide for allegedly restricting aid to Gaza. European leaders—led by France and Britain and followed by Canada—have threatened to “recognize Palestine” as punishment for Israel, insisting that only a Two-State Solution will bring peace.
But here’s the reality: no Palestinian leader, not even Hamas or the Palestinian Authority, is calling for a Two-State Solution.
Their slogans make it clear:
“From the River to the Sea” – no Israel.
“There is only one solution—Intifada, Revolution” – no peace.
In early July, the Wall Street Journal reported a development that put Dr. Kedar’s vision back into the spotlight: Sheikh Wadee’ al-Jaabari and four other powerful clan leaders from Hebron signed a letter pledging peace and full recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. Their plan—break away from the Palestinian Authority, establish an independent emirate, and join the Abraham Accords.
This, Dr. Kedar says, is exactly the type of leadership the region needs: Arab tribal leaders governing their own territories without terrorist overlords. His 8-State Solution calls for each major Arab city or region in Judea and Samaria to form its own self-ruled emirate, modeled after successful clan-based nations like Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait—countries with stability, economic growth, and internal security.
In contrast, Arab states where clans are fragmented—Syria, Libya, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran—are plagued with chaos, terrorism, and poverty.
Today, Dr. Kedar serves as Vice President of NEWSRAEL, a news platform delivering accurate, up-to-the-minute news about Israel and the Middle East—cutting through the noise and giving audiences the truth.
