Recent satellite images show that the restoration work of the southern runway of Damascus International Airport is nearing completion. These restoration works began at the beginning of last month.
The southern runway went out of use last year following an attack by the IAF. The Syrians and Iranians began restoration of the route but soon abandoned the project for an unknown reason. Until the bombing, the southern route was used by Iran's IRGC to transfer ammunition to Syria. After that, the Iranians switched to using the northern route.
The question is whether restoration of the second route implies that the Iranians intend to increase arms shipments.
Russia strongly protested the recent bombing of the runway at the airport and Iran may believe Israel will hesitate to attack there again.
