IDF attack in Syria last night: What we know so far

Three pro-Iranian militants were killed Wednesday in "Israeli strikes" on sites belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah militia near the Syrian capital, Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported to AFP.

The head of the observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman, told the French news agency that three non-Syrian militants, loyal to Iran, were killed "in Israeli bombings of agricultural centers and other sites belonging to Hezbollah near Aqraba - Aqraba and Seyda Zeinab." He added that Israel also bombed Syrian air defense units in the south of the country.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said earlier on that an "Israeli bomb" targeted "a farm in the Aqraba area, which includes a military airport (13 km west of Damascus International Airport), in addition to a Syrian army radar point and a site of forces The regime in the southwestern countryside of Damascus. According to the center, ground-based anti-aircraft guns tried to intercept targets in the area's airspace."

The news agency of the Syrian regime, SANA, confirmed that "substantial damage" was caused as a result of an "Israeli" bomb aimed at "points in the southern region".

A Syrian military official told the agency that the bombing occurred "at approximately 10:50 p.m. today (Wednesday)" from "the direction of Albek in Lebanon, targeting several military points in the southern region."

The source confirmed to the agency that "there was some substantial damage to the property."

The IDF did not admit to carrying out any operations in Syria.

Syrian sources claimed that before attacking the targets in the Damascus area, Israeli fighter jets attacked Syrian anti-aircraft missile batteries located in Suwayda district in the south of the country.

The Israeli army recently confirmed that it attacked sites belonging to the forces of the Syrian regime and the Iranian militias inside Syrian territory.

At the end of last October, with the escalations resulting from the attack launched by Hamas on Israeli cities on the 7th of that month, in less than 12 hours, Syria suffered two attacks in its south and north. Israel claimed responsibility for the attacks, during which Aleppo International Airport was out of service for the fourth time in a row. The international airport of Damascus was also out of service.
