IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir approves operational plans, says Israel will honor the Lebanon agreement, but the IDF is prepared for a rapid return to combat if needed.
Eyal Zamir visited Northern Command and Division 36 on Sunday, where he approved operational plans for the next stage and held a command discussion with brigade commanders.
Zamir said the agreement signed with the Lebanese government is “historic and significant,” but stressed that it was the IDF’s operational power and military achievements in recent months that created the conditions for it. He said Israel will honor the agreement and work for its success, but added that the real test now is implementation by both sides.
The IDF chief emphasized that Northern Command is currently the military’s center of gravity. He said the army is prepared for a rapid return to combat in both Lebanon and Iran if required, and that Israeli forces controlling the Beaufort Ridge area have the tools and capabilities needed to defeat the enemy.
