Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, sharply criticized the UN Security Council for what he described as its “virtual reality” approach to Gaza, ignoring the ongoing rule of Hamas and its continued violence against its own people.
Speaking at a special session on Gaza, Danon urged the Council to “face reality,” stressing that peace and reconstruction are impossible while Hamas remains armed. “Many of you imagine Gaza’s future — hotels, schools, children playing — but before we get lost in that illusion, let’s remove the goggles and look at reality,” he said. “Hamas still exists, is armed, and continues to murder, including its own people.”
Danon displayed a photo of a Hamas execution carried out in Gaza City days after the ceasefire, calling it a stark reminder of the true situation on the ground. “This is the reality,” he declared. “As long as Hamas is not disarmed, there is no future for Gaza — and no peace.”
