Syrian sources have revealed that high-level coordination is taking place between Israel and the newly restructured security apparatus in Damascus.
This collaboration, while unofficial and under the radar, marks a significant shift in the regional dynamics, especially given Syria’s long-standing alliance with Iran.
According to the sources, the primary goal of this coordination is to contain Iranian influence in Syria and to disrupt the operations of Iran-backed militias. These militias, often embedded in civilian areas, have been the target of a growing number of covert and overt operations in recent weeks.
As a result of this cooperation, there has been a noticeable uptick in precision strikes and arrests targeting pro-Iranian cells across Syria. The operations are said to be part of a broader effort to reassert Syrian sovereignty while limiting Tehran's grip on Syrian territory, particularly in the south and near the Israeli border.
