Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week pushed back against growing expectations in Israel that the war with Iran could quickly end with the collapse of the regime in Tehran.
“There is a messianic view that says Iran will collapse immediately and peace will come upon us,” Netanyahu said. “But it doesn’t work that way. There will be a change for the better in percentages, not a knockout.
Not only in Iran, but mainly in the countries of the region. Most importantly, the whole world now understands what we said all along: Iran is a global danger.”
His remarks came as disappointment spread in Israel over reports of a possible end to the war. Netanyahu’s message was clear: even if Iran is weakened, expectations of an instant regional transformation are unrealistic.
