A Michigan-based imam delivers a sermon praising Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and glorifying his “martyrdom.”
In a sermon delivered at the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi spoke in reverent and emotional terms about Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, framing his death as a form of martyrdom and spiritual triumph.
In the address, Elahi described Khamenei as a steadfast religious authority who dedicated his life to Islam and resistance. He suggested that such an end would be an honor and portrayed it as a culmination of decades of leadership and struggle. The tone of the sermon echoed rhetoric commonly heard from Iranian regime officials and state-aligned clerics, presenting Khamenei as a heroic and divinely guided figure.
Elahi has previously expressed admiration for Iran’s leadership and its confrontational stance toward the US and Israel. In this latest sermon, he once again linked Khamenei’s legacy to broader themes of resistance, sacrifice, and loyalty to Islamic governance, delivering the message from within an American mosque.
