A secret French government report has identified the Muslim Brotherhood as a "threat to national cohesion," according to details leaked ahead of its presentation to the French Defense Council.
The report warns that Islamist influence is spreading “from the bottom up,” subtly undermining secular values across local communities. Officials say this gradual shift poses a serious challenge to the Republic’s foundational principle of laïcité (secularism), particularly in neighborhoods where Islamist activism has taken root.
Despite this alarming assessment, President Emmanuel Macron continues to maintain close ties with regimes widely associated with the Muslim Brotherhood — including Qatar, Turkey, and the Syrian opposition — while maintaining ambiguous positions on groups like Hamas, which has deep ideological links to the Brotherhood.
