A woman was knocked unconscious and left with a broken orbital bone after being attacked without warning on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork, Ireland.

Police issued a public appeal following the incident, after which Abdelilah Habbouly, a 36-year-old Muslim man of foreign origin, was identified and arrested.

Habbouly later appeared before Cork District Court in April 2026, where he was charged with assault causing harm and granted bail. The case has sparked anger over public safety concerns in one of Cork’s busiest city-center streets.
