Israel has completed a major operational upgrade to the Iron Dome air-defense system, incorporating lessons learned during the recent war and operations against Iran.
The Defense Ministry and Rafael successfully completed a comprehensive series of tests in late June. The newly proven capabilities are already being integrated into the Israeli Air Force’s existing air-defense network to strengthen Israel’s immediate readiness.
The upgrade improves Iron Dome’s ability to confront exceptionally large barrages intended to overwhelm Israel’s defenses. It also expands the system’s capacity to simultaneously intercept a broader range of advanced threats, including drones and cruise missiles alongside conventional rockets.
Operational mobility and support were also improved, enabling crews to deploy, maintain and operate the system more effectively during prolonged combat and under intense pressure.
