Iraq has placed Hezbollah on its banking sanctions list, dealing another serious financial blow to the Iranian-backed terrorist organization and its patron in Tehran.

The decision was issued under Iraq’s administrative framework for combating terrorism and is intended to sever the financial and logistical networks Hezbollah relies on to move money and maintain its operations.

The announcement was published by Iraq’s director-general for economic affairs and the chairman of the country’s External Development Fund.
