(April 5, 2025 / JNS) Israel is in serious discussions with several countries to implement former President Donald Trump’s vision of voluntary migration for Palestinians from Gaza, a senior diplomatic source revealed during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Hungary.
“We are not giving up on Trump’s vision of voluntary migration,” the source stated. While he did not name the countries involved, he noted the talks include non-monetary arrangements, possibly exchanges or support.
Polls indicate that a majority of Gazans want to leave. According to the source, even before Israel resumed military operations, 60% of Gaza’s population expressed interest in emigrating. “That’s more than 1 million people,” he said. Despite Hamas’s grip, Gazans have begun voicing dissent, with hundreds protesting against the group on March 25.
Trump outlined the plan in February, declaring Gaza uninhabitable and advocating for resettlement options. “The only reason they want to go back is because they have no alternative,” Trump said.
