Prime Minister Netanyahu firmly opposes the deployment of Turkish military forces in the Gaza Strip.
According to President Trump’s 20-point plan, Turkey is one of the countries designated to participate in the “International Stabilization Force (ISF).” However, Netanyahu has made it clear that Turkey’s inclusion is, in his words, a “red line.”
He is also wary of Turkish companies’ involvement in Gaza’s reconstruction — a role that Turkish President Erdogan is eager to secure. Nevertheless, advanced discussions on this issue are ongoing between Israel and the US.
Yesterday, it was reported that the “new threats” Netanyahu mentioned in his Knesset speech refer to the attempts by Turkey and Qatar to expand their regional influence. Both countries — known supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas — seek to play major roles in shaping Gaza’s future governance, as well as in Syria.
