Eighty-six years ago, on September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany launched its invasion of Poland, marking the start of World War II.

Within days, Britain and France declared war on Germany, igniting the bloodiest conflict in human history.

The war would claim over 70 million lives, including six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust.

This day remains a somber reminder of the destructive power of tyranny and the enduring responsibility to confront hatred wherever it rises.
