The American left of today—those who trace their ideological roots back to the “Summer of Love”—grew up shaped by the horrors of the Ku Klux Klan.
They were raised on the warnings of racist extremism, on the dangers of hate-driven supremacy, on the lessons of a movement that sought to impose its identity on everyone else.
It is one of history’s great ironies that many of these same voices now find themselves aligned with the very same type of supremacist ideology—this time coming from radical Islam.
Across the Muslim world, and increasingly in Western cities, preachers openly declare that “Sharia is the most beautiful gift to the world,” that the Quran is the only truth, and that Islam must one day rule the entire planet. These are not fringe opinions whispered in a dark corner. They are broadcast loudly, confidently, and proudly. And yet those who once claimed to oppose all forms of supremacism now defend, excuse, or even embrace this worldview.
