Arab reports claim that Egypt and Saudi Arabia accelerated the moves to transfer the islands of Tiran and Sanfir to Saudi Arabia.
This is happening after the visit of the Saudi crown prince from BAS to Cairo about two weeks ago. As you remember, President al-Sisi decided to transfer these two islands (which were under Israeli control until 1982) to Saudi Arabia back in 2016, but due to the public outrage, he made sure to slow down the move.
According to reports, what convinced al-Sisi may have been a Saudi commitment to invest $15 billion in the development of the Egyptian tourism town of Ras Benas on the Red Sea coast.
It should be noted that during the visit of MBS, an agreement was signed for the protection of investments - an issue that the Saudis insisted on for fear of the fate of their future investments in Egypt.
