Kurdish forces Arrests ISIS Leader South of Syria’s Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) — Media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF - Kurdish) revealed Saturday that the SDF Special Units arrested Friday, in collaboration with the US-led Global Coalition, a sleeper cell’s leader affiliated with the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in the south of Hasakah, northeast Syria.  

The SDF stated that the leader, who was captured in a security operation in al-Si’da village in the southern countryside of Hasakah, was involved in using Improvised Explosive Devises (IEDs) against the SDF’s military and security vehicles.

The cell’s leader also carried out terrorist acts targeting military and security posts and checkpointss in different areas of Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor Governorates, according to the SDF media center.

The SDF also said that it “confiscated equipment and documents proving his involvement with ISIS cells.”
