The Wall Street Journal reports that several proposals are reportedly being examined to remove Hezbollah’s military control from Lebanon.
The US, Israel and Lebanon are considering a plan under which Washington would train, equip and supervise elite Lebanese army units. These forces would gradually replace Israeli troops in southern Lebanon and later move to disarm Hezbollah, using force if necessary.
Other options include Syrian assistance in blocking Hezbollah’s weapons and supply routes, or continued Israeli military operations aimed at steadily weakening the Iranian-backed terrorist organization.
NEWSRAEL: It should be noted that both of these plans have a very low chance of being implemented, not to mention succeed. Hezbollah is afraid of Israel, but not of Syria and/or the Lebanese army no matter by who and for how long they are trained.
