The IDF is increasingly concerned that sensitive visual information about its operations on the northern border is ending up in Hezbollah’s hands through UNIFIL forces.
According to military officials, UNIFIL personnel have broad access to areas of IDF activity, where they film and document — material that could later assist Hezbollah in gathering intelligence and planning attacks.
Suspicion toward UNIFIL has intensified in recent months. A formal coordination document recently surfaced in which UNIFIL referred to Israel as “the Israeli enemy.” The IDF expressed outrage, while UNIFIL claimed it was a mistake copied from Lebanese Army terminology “without correction,” later issuing an apology.
